Construction begins on Nanaimo units boathouse

Unit 27 Nanaimo has been working to build a double wide boathouse for the past three years, but we have had a hard time finding a place to put it that would be central enough for emergency responses. Finally we have come up with a plan in conjunction with the City of Nanaimo and are going to build a special wharf off an existing wharf at the Brechin Boat launch in Nanaimo to accommodate our boathouse. This special project requires three separate 18 piles to be driven to hold our boathouse. Fraser River Pile & Dredge has generously agreed to donate three 18 steel piles and the time and labour to drive them in the required areas. This donation will save us over $30,000.00 in additional costs associated with this project. Now that the piles are in place we have hired SEATECH Constructors (Campbell River) to start construction of our boathouse.
