HARTLEY BAY COAST GUARD AUXILIARY RECEIVES RESCUE BOAT FROM BC FERRIES

VICTORIA - BC Ferries has donated a rescue boat from the Queen of the North to the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Pacific Region.

The rescue boat, which is a Polaris Seamaster P-O3, 16.5 feet in length and equipped with a 40 hp Mercury outboard motor, will be used by the Hartley Bay division of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

The residents of Hartley Bay were the first to respond after BC Ferries´ Queen of the North grounded and was lost in Wright Sound on March 22, 2006.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary and BC Ferries have a longstanding relationship to promote boating safety and education, community awareness and good boating practices.
