HARTLEY BAY COAST GUARD AUXILIARY RECEIVES RESCUE BOAT FROM BC FERRIES
VICTORIA - BC Ferries has donated a rescue boat from the Queen of the North to the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Pacific Region.
The rescue boat, which is a Polaris Seamaster P-O3, 16.5 feet in length and equipped with a 40 hp Mercury outboard motor, will be used by the Hartley Bay division of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
The residents of Hartley Bay were the first to respond after BC Ferries Queen of the North grounded and was lost in Wright Sound on March 22, 2006.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary and BC Ferries have a longstanding relationship to promote boating safety and education, community awareness and good boating practices.
